THE BENNETTS MONTHLY MARCH '26

5 March, 2026

All Things Bennetts and Coffee...

With the arrival of March, we farewell Summer. Looking back on the last few months, Australia experienced turbulent weather with widespread heat waves followed by a sharp shift to heavy rainfall – with record breaking temperatures, inland rain and flooding - Oh my!

Meanwhile, overseas, our producing partners also faced slightly warmer than usual conditions, with some regions experiencing heavy rain and flooding , particularly in parts of East Africa, while others saw shifting storm and rainfall patterns as the global climate moved from La Niña toward more neutral conditions.

For coffee-growing regions, this mix of heat and rainfall variability can place pressure on crops, affecting flowering, bean development and harvest timing. Such instability increases uncertainty around yields, quality and overall supply in the months ahead.

Stay tuned to our monthly newsletter and origin reports to keep up to date with industry news!

ROAST SUMMIT

For the past six years, Roast Summit has been a leading educational event for roasters featuring insightful discussions, workshops and networking with coffee industry leaders in the USA and Australia. This year, Bennetts will be sponsoring the Melbourne event – to be held at Aunty Peg’s in Collingwood, on the 24th and 25th of March.

This two day hands-on event is designed for roasters to gain insights and knowledge and connect with fellow coffee professionals. Hosted by Anne Cooper of Equilibrium Master Roasters the summit brings together industry leaders for an immersive experience in the art and science of coffee and roasting. Attendees can engage in insightful discussions, workshops, and invaluable networking, making it a true celebration of coffee innovation and community.

This year, our very own coffee Trader, Khalid will be speaking on the panel – covering topics such as origin insights and reflection on the coffee market. While our Quality Manager, Georgia, will be attending the tasting workshops and available to discuss all things QA.

We’d love to see you there! For more information about registering and tickets see this link.

Special Bonus: All attendees will receive a free 3-Day Access All Areas Pass to the Melbourne International Coffee Expo – MICE (valued at $104.95).

MICE 2026

Later this month the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (March 26th to 28th). Members of the Bennetts team will be attending the Expo across the three days, and we would love to catch up with you there.

Alternatively, you can book a time to meet us in our office in Kew, where we can host a cupping or if you prefer to just drop by for a chat. We ask that you please contact your Bennetts Account Manager before the 18th of March to arrange a time/location that suits you.

  • Reminder, if you register for the Roast Summit, you will receive a complimentary three day pass to MICE - What a deal!
